Xenon Delivers first factory built LSA Gyroplanes to the USFebruary 28, 2007A US Importer has been signed to bring the hottest new European Gyroplane to America. The fully enclosed, two place side by side gyro features efficient aerodynamic styling not usually seen on gyroplanes. Its turbocharged Rotax aircraft engine turns in impressive performance numbers with climb rates of 1,200 fpm and cruise speeds of 120 mph all while sipping automobile or avgas at 5 gallons per hour. Takeoff rolls of under 300 feet and landing rolls of 15 feet are common. All this in enclosed comfort with plenty of room for a weekend's worth of luggage. The Xenon is the only 2 place gyroplane being offered as an LSA and is fully factory finished and ready to fly.The Xenon is from the drafting table of French aircraft designer Raphael Celier and is now being delivered to US customers fully built and certified as an Experimental LSA. This means it can be flown by Sport Pilots as well as licensed private pilots. The LSA rating also means the owner can do all his own maintenance after completing a simple 16 hour course. Special features of the Xenon include a full engine cowling for efficient airflow and all weather operation. Unique in its class the efficient pre-rotator allows the rotor blades to reach speeds of 280 rpm making take-offs of less than 200 feet possible. The roomy cabin is 10" wider than a Cessna 172 and is available with leather bucket seats and full carpeting. The service ceiling is 15,000 feet though most rotorcraft enthusiasts will want to fly close to the ground at helicopter altitudes where the wrap around windshield, foot well windows, overhead windows and clear doors give unparalleled visibility. On warm summer days the doors can be removed in seconds for an unforgettable flying experience.
